With over 25 years of leadership experience, Sheila has cultivated an impressive career in talent strategy, organizational effectiveness, and workforce development. She brings a unique blend of operational and talent leadership expertise, encompassing talent reviews, workforce planning, employee relations, diversity initiatives, training program development, and recruitment strategies.
Early in her career, Sheila embraced leadership opportunities and discovered a passion for mentoring others, developing talent resources, and improving business strategies. Sheila’s passion for talent acquisition was inspired by her early experiences helping students navigate career paths. She found immense fulfillment in matching candidates with meaningful career opportunities, a realization that solidified her commitment to recruiting and talent strategy.
Her transition to corporate recruiting stemmed from years spent guiding students at institutions of higher education. During her time at Spartan College of Aviation, a partnership with an aerospace company (Sierra Space) sparked her fascination with the industry, paving the way for a seamless move into aerospace recruiting and talent acquisition. Over the past three years, she has held roles with Sierra Space and Maxar Technologies, where she led in recruiting, sourcing, and talent acquisition marketing, all while serving as a strategic partner to address hiring and staffing needs.
Sheila’s educational background extends to a Bachelor’s Degree in Interpersonal and Public Communications and an MBA with a certificate in Human Resources. She has obtained 7 licenses and certifications, which have served to expand her existing knowledge in recruiting efforts, biases in recruiting and interviewing, and team accountability.
In her role at Advanced Space, Sheila is focused on advancing the organization’s people strategies, enhancing performance management systems to deliver valuable feedback and recognition, while ensuring compliance with labor laws and employment regulations.
